In these cheerful movement classes, I will teach you simple exercises for the recuperation of your body and mind. Learn how to pick up early warning signals of stress, and how to deal with them. This helps you to release tension faster and to start feeling better today.

Smother Movement is a somatic movement class. Somatic movement is not yet very well known in the Netherlands, but it has been quite popular in the US and the UK for some years. It is a Western form of ‘Mindful or Concious Movement’. In short, the goal of somatic movement is to improve the connection between body and mind.
By moving with great attention, you train yourself to be more body-aware and to pick up on your body’s signals more quickly. Somatic movement promotes relaxation, is healing, and helps to make movement easier and more enjoyable. You learn to listen to your body and its needs and move more smoothly!
The benefits of Smoother Moving:
This weekly class is for anyone, including those with injuries. Personal experience and making discoveries at your own pace are core. Every single body is different and has different movement preferences. This is respected in somatic classes. Everyone works in a safe way, within their own boundaries and possibilities. We work with what we have, in a small group, with personal attention. Prior experience with somatic movement is not necessary. You move all the time.
What Smoother Moving is not:
This is not a Yoga or Pilates class. I am a Registered Somatic Movement Educator (RSME). I have background in dance and studied Movement, Dance and Play. I am notoriously bad at remembering steps or sequences. So my classes are about exploring your own movement preferences more freely. Each series of classes is well structured around a movement theme, with lots of room for creativity and fun.
My movement classes are based upon the Laban Movement System and Bartenieff Fundamentals (LBMS). Two rich and creative movement systems, all about developing a healthy, rich and easy movement pattern, in harmony with your environment.
